What is Lent? Should Catholics abstain themselves from eating meat every single day during Lent season? The 40 days that precede Easter Sunday are known as Lent, and they are an important time in the Christian calendar. Ash Wednesday marks the start of it, while Holy Saturday marks its end. Believers use this time to prepare their hearts for the celebration of Christ's resurrection via prayer, fasting, and penance. Why Abstain from Meat? The Tradition Explained 1. Historical Context The Catholic Church used to forbid people from eating meat on Fridays. But this prohibition was loosened in 1966, allowing Catholics to eat meat on Fridays. The alteration was made in response to the faithful's changing requirements. The guidelines have been improved since then. 2. Current Guidelines As per the present Church regulations, the days set aside for abstinence occur especially during Lent, which is the period of spiritual readiness for Easter. The salient points are as follows: Ash Wedn...

The Godhead, Three in One

Shalom to all believers in Christ,   With an open prayer, we do understand that God is described by the Christian doctrine as existing in three coequal, coeternal, consubstantial divine persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit, three separate persons sharing one homoousion. In this instance, the one essence defines what God is, whereas the three persons define who God is. Trinitarianism is the name of this belief, and those who uphold it are referred to as trinitarians; those who oppose it are referred to as antitrinitarians or nontrinitarians.   As early Christians and church fathers sought to make sense of the relationship between Jesus and God in their canonical writings and ancestors' traditions, they first developed the theology of the Trinity.   The Trinity has been seen as being referenced frequently in the Old Testament. One of these is the Messiah prophecy in Isaiah 9. "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Ever...

Encountering the CHURCH OF GOD (A Korean Corrupt Faith-Cult) in Malaysia

Shalom to my brothers and sisters in Christ,   Upon deepening our faith, God has always revealed Himself by giving us certain tests to evaluate our belief in Him. Most of the time  pg on to prayers or making a devotion to our beloved Mother Mary by reciting a rosary prayer, things can be difficult or complicated. After what we have been through, we should never give up on keeping our faith dearly in our hearts. If Abraham passed God's test, we should not give up so easily, even though our tests are not as difficult as those given to Abraham. I have been following a church discussion group about evangelisation for the past two months. As I have recalled, each time I am into something, especially "understanding my faith", I will encounter challenges such as defending my faith to non-believers or things that do not work out in my life that can shake my belief in God the Highest. So, as part of my spiritual journey in my 30's, the Holy Spirit once again tries to t...

STRENGTHENING YOUR FAITH THROUGH THE EYES OF WITNESSES

Shalom to all believers in Christ,  Throughout our lives, we learned that each of us faces difficulty in the material world. Each comes in different forms. Some may have touched others' hearts and be 'little Christ' without realising it.  Some may be fortunate enough to be able to evangelise by sharing the gospel, and some may only be able to show kindness and compassion. Nevertheless, both actions are guided by the Holy Spirit.  "Ask, Seek, and Knock (Matthew 7:7-8) " as mentioned in the gospel, plays an important part of our lives. Each time we pray wholeheartedly and seek guidance from the Lord, a problem or temptation will always persist. Our test and difficulty coexist to show that our God is a living God.  The evil spirits, Satan, Gog and Magog, will always try to elude us from seeking the truth. Any easy way out or straight answer may be the work of a false spirit, as our living God works in a mysterious way.   After the life of the apostles, ...
